Innovation and Access Drive Exhibitor Expectations at IAS 2025 Kigali

Kigali, Rwanda - As the International AIDS Society (IAS) Conference 2025 draws to a close this Thursday, July 17th, global pharmaceutical leaders and health advocates gathered in Kigali, Rwanda are sharing their ambitious expectations. From pioneering new treatments to ensuring widespread drug affordability, exhibitors are focused on advancing the fight against HIV/AIDS.

African Updates secured exclusive insights from key players, revealing a shared commitment to patient centric solutions and strategic collaborations.

Samaksh Bijamwar, an Executive at India-based Hetero Labs Limited, a major generic manufacturer of antiretroviral, underscored their dual mission: staying abreast of cutting-edge research and actively contributing to innovation. “As a large-scale manufacturer of antiretrovirals, it’s our duty to be here,” Bijamwar stated. “We want to know the current situations in the field and the new innovations.”

Hetero Labs recently presented a novel formulation for HIV treatment, showcasing their commitment to new solutions. Bijamwar emphasized their core expectation from IAS 2025: “We expect to meet people and understand patient comfort, what medicines they are comfortable with, and how we can make their lives easier by providing our portfolio.” The company, a partner with Global Fund, WHO, PAHO, and the United Nations, aims to expand its reach, particularly across Africa, by connecting with new NGOs and buyers. “We also seek feedback from patients undergoing treatment to ensure our work remains effective,” he added.

Unnat Machhi, Sales Manager at Meril, highlighted their immediate goals for the conference. “We are here to demonstrate our products, engage new customers, and maintain strong relationships with existing clients,” Machhi explained, pointing to the importance of direct interaction in the global health marketplace.

Aurobindo, a pharmaceutical giant with 20 years in the industry, is leveraging IAS 2025 to forge critical alliances. Mr. Chaitanya Prakash, Deputy General Manager of Business Development, emphasized their long-standing partnerships with organizations like USAID/PPFA, Global Fund, and WHO. “We are here to connect with innovators and key stakeholders, especially those with a role in funding,” Prakash asserted. A primary objective for Aurobindo is to “get licenses from innovators for new [products],” underscoring their drive for future advancements. He noted that discussions primarily involve “key people like doctors from different segments,” highlighting the scientific and medical focus of their engagements. Aurobindo’s consistent sponsorship of the event further demonstrates their commitment to the global HIV response.

Beyond these prominent voices, numerous other exhibitors are showcasing their contributions, from diagnostic tools to support services, all united in their pursuit of a world free from AIDS.
